Ft. Poenari in tact, lajutimate photo?

First off, I am still unable to get working on the book again and probably won't for another few weeks. I'll let you guys know the day I get back to work.


Anyway, I was in a Russian book store the other day and found some cassette series on the bible and on the cover, their was a photo of a fortress. Interestingly, it had the same style of construction as the church next to Chindiei Tower (built by Vlad III) and it's lower section was identical to the ruins of Ft. Poenari and had matching terrain. The photo looked like early 1970s quality but could have been as old as 1930s. Does anyone know when or how Ft. Poenari was destroyed? I am a bit suspicious about this one. In either case, I am modifying my Ft. Poenari picture to match it and I’ll post the photo I saw at the book store if I can find it.

A couple details:





The two circular towers shown along the side of the Fort are different heights. The middle one is very tall and has that tough, top-heavy look to it often found in Romanian churches and such. The square wall at the front to the left of the entrance stare way in the picture is also very tall. In the center of the structure (connected to the main tower) is a house like structure with 4 way arches.

I hear theres a new movie comming out and/or in the making about Dracula's castle.





Is it going to be some Hollywood trash about vampires or a real account of Vlad Dracula the Prince and his fortress at Poenari?





Isn't it about time the true story be told? Romania is a special place.





You guys are our friends. I'm in the US and I want to visit there someday; not like some stupid tourist, but I want to climb the hill to Poenari. I want to just stay there for a few hours and just sort of well...I dunno. It seems like a special place. Alot of death there I guess, but I guess he had to kill alot of people.





As I understand it the people during that time who were honest and not greedy backstabbers lived quite well.

I only hope that Romania can somehow get some money from maybee jobs at our military base(s), money from movies and the people live well and be happy. My wish. Scew France and Germany. Let's help Romania!

Uhh.. Back then, those things were at least as much a problem as today, much worse in many cases. Vladislav IIIs rule was a bit of an exeption. Perhapse because of that it only figures that the greedy backstabbers are the ones who labled him: Vlad the Impaler.
