The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"
Here's the best solution, so far:

Dear Mr. President,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing America ’s economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage. Housing Crisis fixed..
It can't get any easier than that!
Economy fix.

Only one problem there and that's with job openings. The trick will have to be that they can only work another 5-10 years of there life. What this will do is cause some to retire while others decide to keep working, preventing a sudden crash in the work force but still create job openings. This also allows them to earn enough money to keep themselves up in the future. $1 million dollars isn't much to live the remainder of your life on after you bought a house and new car with it.
If Obama did that, he wouldn't have to worry about being re-elected. Thankfully, the USA is actually not that impressed with him. Right now, I think he's doing more for Ron Paul in 2012 then himself.

Pride is the root of all evil. Nothing good ever comes from it.
