Iran's President Says Holocaust Up for Debate
TEHRAN (Dec. 9) -- The Holocaust is now a subject of serious debate, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sparked international outrage by inviting scholars to a conference on the Holocaust he calls a "myth."
Iran has invited scholars from 30 countries to attend a conference starting on Monday about the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were killed by the Nazis.
"For 60 years talking about the Holocaust was a crime in the West but now there is a serious debate about the Holocaust in the media and also in political and popular meetings," state television quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
Ahmadinejad sparked an international outcry by referring to the Holocaust as a "myth" and saying Israel should be relocated to Europe or North America.
"Even some Western politicians have declared that the original foundation of the Zionist regime (Israel) was a mistake," he said on Saturday.
Ahmadinejad has said his questioning of the Holocaust is aimed at encouraging scholarly debate and an examination of the reasons behind the creation of the state of Israel.

Deputy Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mohammadi has said the Holocaust conference will look at issues such as "whether the gas chambers were actually used by the Nazis."
The conference has been condemned by various countries and organizations. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack described it as "disgraceful."
"It is just flabbergasting that ... the leadership of the regime continues to deny that 6 million plus people were killed in the Holocaust," he told reporters on Friday.
Karen Pollock, chief executive of the British Holocaust Educational Trust, called the Iranian conference "ridiculous."
"Denial of the Holocaust is a virulent form of anti-Semitism," she said in a statement. "It is not only deeply offensive to Holocaust survivors but to any right-minded human being."
Iran was also sharply criticised for hosting a cartoon competition on the Holocaust this year.

Funny how the Iranians are looking at facts while Westerners are just calling it discraceful without any back-up.
Mel Gibsons father was the first to really bring this subject to the table and as much as people hate him and call him terrible things, last I checked, he had the facts on his side. Do keep in mind that none of these people deny the hollocaust ever happened, the subject on the table is the magnitude of the hollocaust and what really went on and from what I've seen so far, the people addressing the issue and being spat at for it are looking just at the facts.
I myself have seen thousands of pictures and videos from the hollocaust in just about every area you can think of and I have yet to see any footage of these elleged creamation ovens. A big question one must ask on the subject is how would any first and accounts of these events be known? I don't know of any German doccumentation of this as a major operation (though I am sure it happened on an "as necessary" basis from time to time) and the US hardley even knew about the concintration camps until our troops walked up on them while any jews who would have seen them would have also parished in them, provided the myth were true. It all sounds to me like a very sketchey myth to me. The only eye witnesses who could have made an issue out of it were German soldiers who were involved and with the way things worked with the German army, I doubt any german could partake in a creamation excercise and know if it's a part of a major national operation or a conveniant way (for the time being) to get rid of a bunch of prisoners.
The bottom line is it's the whole thing has been turned in to much more then what it is. No one is denying the holocaust. That's not inquestion. What's inquestion is the magnatude of the holocaust and what went on during it and the fact that this is sketchey history sunject to missinformation and exaduration at personal level is a no-brainer.

One last thing to clearify since westerners can't seam to get prophiganda out of their reasoning.
I don't have anything for or against the Jews. I hardley pay any attention to them. Just another class of people in our society.
Also, my only set belief or opinion on the issue at hand is that their is obviousley room for question as to what really happened. I do not have a belief or opinion about what actually happened. I don't know enough. Welcome to fact oriented reasoning.

OK - Next Question is
Is the Iranian an idiot to question this, or are the people idiots NOT to question it?
Thanks for your inputs.
